2016 Leavers - Destinations

  • Herschel Grammar School data compares very well with the national data with a very high proportion of HGS students moving successfully into higher education
  • 87.2% of students applying to university were accepted onto courses for Autumn 2016.
  • 32.2% were accepted onto courses at higher tariff universities for Autumn 2016.
  • 31.5% were accepted onto courses through Clearing for Autumn 2016.
  • 13 students applied for Oxbridge with 4 being accepted.
  • 6% of the cohort are applying for a 2017 start.
  • Therefore 93% of the cohort have or will have progressed to university.
  • Aston, Royal Holloway, Brunel and Queen Mary’s were the most popular universities with our students.
  • Medical related degrees were the most popular followed by Biological Sciences, Business Studies, Social Sciences and Engineering.
  • 8 students did not apply for university for either 2016 or 2017 start. Of these 2 are on apprenticeship programmes, 1 is applying to university in USA, 1 is working and applying for a pilot training programme, 1 is moving to Pakistan in the summer and applying for university there, 1 is working in retail and 1 is still being followed up by the school to establish what they are doing.
