Visit from Mace Construction

On Friday 23rd March, a team of volunteers from Mace Construction visited Herschel to speak to the Year 8 tutor groups as part of their careers PSHCE module.

The volunteers were from a variety of roles, including project management and quantity surveying, and they provided a detailed overview of the huge variety of careers available in construction. They also showcased some of the projects they had worked on or were working on, including a fascinating timelapse film of the ‘Armadillo’ in Oxford Street.

The government’s new statutory careers guidelines recommend that all students from Year 7 and upwards have at least one ‘meaningful encounter’ with the world of work every year they are in school – hopefully we are ahead of the curve on this one at Herschel!
