It's National Careers Week and National Apprenticeships Week between 5th and 10th March 2018, and we have a few events going on in school to mark these.
What is happening?
Small Year 9 group visit to GSK for a STEM innovation session on Monday 5th March
Third round of Year 9 group careers consultations on Tuesday 6th March in the Careers Library
Lunchtime careers drop-in with Ms Cole on Tuesday 6th March in the Careers Library – all welcome with any questions
Small Year 7 and 8 group visit to Metro Bank on Wednesday 7th March
Small Year 12 and 13 girls group visit to Mars on Thursday 8th March for a breakfast networking session and Q and A (also marking International Women’s Day)
An apprenticeships awareness session on Tuesday 6th March in G7 at 1.10pm – this will be an overview presentation from an apprenticeships expert and a short talk from someone who is doing an apprenticeship now, hopefully someone who used to go to Herschel!
If you are in Year 9-13, there is an online chat session on Thursday 8th March with apprentices in a variety of large companies with a view to finding out more about what companies offer and what it’s like to do an apprenticeship on a day to day basis. After a short prep session with a video and some input with me, you would chat online with a real person who has set aside some time in their day to chat with students across the country.
Where can you find out more?
There is wealth of careers information available on our school careers website all year round!
There will also be a daily student email during National Careers Week with some apprenticeship content, some unusual careers and some tips and suggestions for what else to investigate.
