A small group of students from all year groups gave up some of their lunchtime during National Apprenticeships Week in early March to take part in a workshop and online webchat looking at apprenticeships.
The session started with an overview of how apprenticeships work and what they can offer, including the different levels of apprenticeship right up to higher and degree level. In the second part of the session, students logged on and live-chatted for half an hour or so with an apprenticeship expert – some of the participants were doing apprenticeships, others were involved in apprenticeship training and recruitment. Some of the latter had actually completed straight university degrees themselves, so were able to provide a real insight into the differences between the pathways, and indeed the many ways in which they can actually be quite similar!
Thanks to Class Careers for organising the session for us and to all of the companies who provided staff with time out of their day to take part.
